Cultural reconnection through history. Spiritual awakening through ancestral wisdom

I am biracial Malawian-Japanese, and my journey toward Black consciousness began in the space between cultures. Growing up as a diasporan child in Japan, I knew the ache of disconnection intimately—from my ancestral history, my spirituality, and the collective power that should have been my birthright.

That longing only deepened when I entered the workforce as a bilingual professional. The rhythm of a 9-to-5 left little room for the self-reflection I craved. Searching for a way to continue my education on global issues, I turned to video essays on YouTube. What started as curiosity became a gateway.

I began with feminist theory. Soon, my exploration expanded into misogynoir, the global Black experience, and African spirituality. Along the way, I arrived at a conviction I now carry into everything I write: our liberation is rooted in reconnecting with what was stolen.

This blog is where I do that reconnecting—publicly, honestly, and in community. I write about Pan-African identity, belonging, healing from trauma, womanhood, rest, and the quiet violence of living under capitalism. I write from Japan, from Malawi, and from the bridge between them. I write to remember who I am, and to invite you to do the same.

If my words resonate, I’d be glad to hear from you.
